Day 3 dawns clear but a storm is on the horizon...

Waking up on day 3 was a bit difficult. Probably a result of drinking those Big Sky IPAs last night. We do have a nice drive ahead though as Yellowstone is where we get to see some beauty that nature provides for free. (america charges you to see free nature of course, but that's for another time)
We are looking for geysers and calderas and rivers and bison and moosies and elk and bears oh my!
Plus whatever else comes our way...
So the day was sluggish but now its starting to look better...so I feel better...so lets get it on...one more day of Operation MFRT™.

Just finished a big ol' chicken fried steak. Been searching for the perfect one...have not found it yet so I can keep searching. This one was close though...

The Quest

We are now on Day 2 road travel day 3 of MFRT™. Shower, Sleep and Hi Speed internet fueled us up...however more sleep seems like a better idea LOL. Blak did awesome at the helm of the Iron Steed Known as Dakota.

296 Miles roughly til our next stop, a little place you might have heard of called Yellowstone! We would say hi to Yogi but we would need to head to Jellystone and that is not on our list.
Time to shut this box down, get the proper clothes on and as the Mighty Prime says "ROLL OUT"

Peace out!

Yellowstone or Bust (a move)

Hotels are sweet respite from the road. Showers and beds. Comfort for a minute or three. Fast internet. all the goodness of a home away from home. Missoula, MT gets the Blak thumbs up so far.
But as nice as internet and beds are i think the 57 degree high of Yellowstone will be more true to the MFRT™ vision of days spent wondering the vast and desolate world of the physical and trying to crack the inner mysteries of the mind. Or maybe i just wanna camp...

Day 1 is Hot and Done

It was hell but we did it. Deacon was a whirling dervish of packing frenzy. And he never quit or gave up. Kudos and salutes. I am hot, tired but recovering. A multitude of thanks to Deacon's dad. He helped us remedy a too low hitch issue that was going to be a problem times 100. So...problem fixed and shower down, its time for bed and somnambulistic endeavoring.

Ajax Blak

Out bound from mount vernon...the road is not disastous just yet. Not counting that slight hitch issue. A thousand thanks to Deacon's dad for the help on that.

Sitting at SeaTac airport waiting for Deacon. In a cool celphone waiting lot. Had to detour throigh Tacoma as there was unspecified "debris" on I5. Sad place:-(

sitting and waiting

Phase one is in effect. I am sitting at the airport relaxed and ready, my camera is ready to capture some cool shots in the next 10 days, and to hang with Ajax while he begins his road trip sabatical.

Fast approaching

My bags are packed, time to finish what I can around here and meet up with the other half of MFRT at approx 10:33 Westcoast time. Then we load and pack one more time for Wagons East!

Morning in Portland. Woot! Survived the night...this town is off the hook...everytime I come here I see a different side and site. D and A are awesome hosts.

Saturday, July 25, 2009

Hail mighty Portland...land of bridges, bikes having right of way, serious food, badass bars (hola Vendetta) and my buddy D. And damn its hot.

Pre road trip road trip to portland. Stopping at Quality Burrito in Olympia. Yummy taco combos. Traffic still sucks in south Tacoma. Soon to see D. Woot!

Ugh...packing sucks. I mean the concept of moving is cool and all...but the minutiae is killing me.
Keep this sentimental knick knack? Or toss it? Sigh...

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

The bags are not all packed yet but things are coming togther. The stereo gets an upgrade on Monday. The brakes are probably going to be monday as well. Sugoi!

Via the Underground

Technology is wonderful. It allows me to be sitting at work, last week, and texting my blog entry to say 5 days and then I get to pack...I think I prefer work.

A journey of a thousand steps begins with the first step.

So i suppose the first step is to figure out that there will be a journey. I have been thinking for some time about taking the eastward plunge. I finally figured it was time. So with the Deacon ever present at my side i am off to the exotic far east...well with one long stop in NY. Ok so maybe the destination is actually NY. But hey they say it is not about the destination, it is about the journey. Well so is this blog. About the journey. Not the destination. As really, life's a journey...
